According to HBR, Analytics is considered as the “Sexiest Job” of the 21st century where digging into the data, analysing it and at times manipulating it can provide huge insights about the near future.

Everyone may have their own preference for work domain. However, Analytics can be applied in every domain, be it Banking and Finance, Marketing, E-commerce, Retail or Human Resource. So one can choose any domain and apply their skills set required for analytics.

The pay scale though varies on the basis of location and company; the average salary of a Data Analyst in India is more than any finance, marketing or IT professionals with the same years of experience. As per a study – the average salary of an analyst at the end of 2015 was Rs 9.5 lacs across all experience and salary levels. Anyone with less than 3 years of experience can get an average salary of around Rs 4.1 lacs
There’s a supply-demand gap in the field of Analytics where though it is considered the sexiest job, the desire/demand for the required skills are going up steadily and there are still many unfilled jobs due to a shortage of the required skill. So opportunity in this field is very high. It is estimated that by 2018 there will be a 50 -60% shortage of data geeks.
